What does INSPECTOR GENERAL FOR UKRAINE. of Inspector General for Ukraine Act do?

This section establishes the Office of the Inspector General for Ukraine. The Inspector General is appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate, based on integrity and demonstrated ability in fields like accounting, auditing, or law. The Inspector General is responsible for auditing and investigating the treatment, handling, and expenditure of funds for military and nonmilitary support of Ukraine. The Inspector General reports to the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense, but maintains independence in conducting investigations and audits. The Inspector General is authorized to appoint Assistant Inspectors General for Auditing and Investigations. The Inspector General has the authority to coordinate with other Inspectors General (Defense, State, USAID) and federal agencies. The Inspector General's office is authorized $70,000,000 for fiscal year 2025, offset by a reduction in the Economic Support Fund for Ukraine. The Office of the Inspector General for Ukraine will terminate five years after the enactment of this Act.
