Priority for grant applications will be given to those demonstrating how the program will identify health profession labor shortages and increase the number of health professionals with disadvantaged backgrounds. The Secretary is required to provide technical assistance to eligible entities receiving grants, with a limitation of 5% of available funds. The Secretary must submit an annual report to Congress detailing the grants awarded, the centers supported, and the number of students and staff involved. Recipients of grants under sections 749A or 340H are ineligible to receive grants under this new section.
