What does PROHIBITIONS AND SUSPENSIONS FOR VIOLATIONS. of Energy Consumer Protection Act of 2026 do?

This section amends the Federal Power Act and the Natural Gas Act to establish prohibitions and suspensions for violations. The Federal Power Act is amended to allow the Commission to prohibit entities engaged in violations of sections 221 or 222 from purchasing, selling, or transmitting electric energy, energy products (including financial transmission rights), or transmission services. The Natural Gas Act is amended to prohibit the willful and knowing reporting of false information related to natural gas transportation or sales to federal agencies or private price-reporting agencies. The Natural Gas Act is also amended to allow the Commission to prohibit entities engaged in violations of sections 4A or 4B from purchasing or selling natural gas or transmission services. Amendments are made to conforming sections of both Acts, replacing 'individual' with 'person' and adding language regarding direct or indirect engagement.
