The Board's membership consists of several federal agency heads and directors, as well as up to 18 non-federal members representing various sectors. Non-federal members must include representatives from state, local, and tribal governments, fire departments, and relevant private-sector entities. The Board is authorized $10,000,000 to carry out its activities, with federal members also able to use unspecified funds from their agencies. The Board must submit a report to Congress within two years of the Act's enactment detailing its activities and providing recommendations for wildfire research priorities.
