This section amends Section 414 of the Energy Conservation and Production Act to establish a Weatherization Readiness Fund. The Weatherization Readiness Fund will provide funds to states for repairs to low-income dwelling units with structural defects or hazards preventing weatherization. States receiving funds must use them to remediate defects so weatherization measures can be installed. The Act authorizes $30,000,000 annually from fiscal years 2026 through 2030 for the fund. This section also amends Section 415(c) of the Energy Conservation and Production Act, increasing the limit for financial assistance per dwelling unit from $6,500 to $15,000. The maximum financial assistance per dwelling unit is increased to $6,000. The Secretary may increase financial assistance beyond the limit in paragraph (1) if market conditions require it to achieve the purposes of the part.
