Beginning January 1, 2026, and every five years thereafter, the Secretary shall review the amount specified in section 1967(a)(3)(A)(i) compared to an amount calculated based on the Consumer Price Index. The Secretary must submit the review results to the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs, which may guide coverage increases. The amount described in subsection (b) is calculated as $500,000 multiplied by the average percentage change in the Consumer Price Index over the five preceding fiscal years. The 'Consumer Price Index' is defined as the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
