States may require individuals to satisfy a resources test, subject to subparagraph (M), that precludes eligibility if resources exceed a specified amount. For 2029, the specified amount is $10,000, and it increases by the Consumer Price Index every four years after 2029, with an applicable year defined as 2033 and every fourth year thereafter. States have flexibility to apply a lower amount than the specified amount or to take into account resources typically excluded under section 1613. The resources test must be applied at the time of initial eligibility determination and each subsequent redetermination. A state will not be penalized for an individual’s ineligibility based on the resources test regarding certain federal matching assistance percentages. The term 'applicable individual' is defined and states may elect to expand this definition to include certain specified excluded individuals.
