It adds a new section (5304) to Title LIII of the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020, directing NIST to develop an AI workforce framework. The framework will include a common lexicon to describe AI employment-related activities and describe the tasks, knowledge, and skills needed for AI work. NIST is directed to seek input from various stakeholders, including federal agencies, state and local governments, industry, and educational institutions. The framework will be used to provide technical assistance to the National Science Foundation and the Office of Personnel Management. NIST must publish the framework within one year of development and make it publicly available.
