This section defines terms used throughout the Act. “Cash bail” is defined as secured monetary conditions of release, including cash payments, bonds, or sureties. “Covered offense” includes crimes of violence, sex offenses, indecent acts, crimes involving moral turpitude, burglary, vandalism, looting, and other offenses determined appropriate by the Attorney General. “Crime of violence” is defined by reference to section 16(a) of title 18, United States Code. “Sex offense” is defined by reference to section 111 of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. “Indecent act” is defined as a criminal act involving sexually explicit conduct, as defined in section 2256(2)(A) of title 18, United States Code. “Burglary” is defined as breaking and entering the dwelling of another person with the intent to commit larceny. “Vandalism” is defined as intentionally defacing, damaging, injuring, or destroying property. “Looting” includes participation in a riot or taking property during a riot, civil unrest, or natural disaster.
