This section amends Subtitle B of title III of the Research and Development, Competition, and Innovation Act (CHIPS and Science Act) by adding a new section. The Director, in consultation with the Secretary of Education and a Consortium, may award grants to eligible entities to support biotechnology education for secondary school students. Eligible entities can use funds for professional development, curriculum development, equipment acquisition, partnerships, and credential development. The Director may prioritize awards to entities demonstrating a need for or limited access to biotechnology education resources. The Director may support coordination, collaboration, and sharing of best practices related to biotechnology education programs. A National Biotechnology Education Consortium will be established to provide support and recommendations to the Director. Eligible entities include State and local educational agencies, institutions of higher education, and eligible nonprofit organizations.
