The availability of funds and commitment authority under Section 1706 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and Section 50144 of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 is extended to 2032. A portion of the funds, specifically $20 billion, must be set aside to guarantee loans for projects related to energy infrastructure required by Section 202(c) orders. The Secretary of Energy must submit a report to Congress within one year of enactment detailing loan guarantees made, electric capacity added, and recommendations for incentivizing investment in aging coal facilities.
