This section amends the Public Health Service Act, the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, and the Social Security Act to address coverage pursuant to medical child support orders. When a child has health coverage through a noncustodial parent (including a stepparent) under these programs, the plan or carrier must provide necessary information to the custodial parent. The custodial parent (or provider with approval) is permitted to submit claims for covered services without the noncustodial parent's approval. Payment on claims is directed to the custodial parent or the provider, or a State agency if applicable. These amendments will apply to plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2026.
