This section amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to establish an Office of Fusion within the Department. The Office's purpose is to advance fusion energy science and technology to meet U.S. energy, environmental, and economic needs. The Office aims to enhance U.S. economic and energy security, maintain U.S. leadership in fusion technologies, and accelerate research, development, and deployment of fusion technologies. A goal of the Office is to facilitate the construction of more than one private-sector fusion power plant by December 31, 2028. The Secretary shall transfer programs from the Fusion Energy Sciences program of the Office of Science to the Office by November 19, 2025. The Secretary and the Director must submit a commercial deployment roadmap to Congress within one year of the Office of Fusion Act of 2025's enactment, identifying barriers and outlining activities to overcome them. The Director must coordinate the Office's activities to avoid duplication with other Department programs and agencies.
