Violations of these sanctions are subject to penalties under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The President can waive these sanctions if deemed in the national security interests of the United States. Sanctions do not apply to authorized intelligence activities or activities required to comply with international obligations or law enforcement. This section terminates 30 days after the President certifies that Iran no longer repeatedly supports international terrorism.
