What does QUALITY ASSURANCE REVIEWS OF DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY of Terrorist Watchlist Data Accuracy and Transparency Act do?

This section amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to establish quality assurance reviews of Department of Homeland Security nominations to the terrorist watchlist and other terrorism databases. Prior to submission to the Terrorist Screening Center and the National Counterterrorism Center, the Secretary must conduct a review to ensure nominations are free from error. The Secretary must annually review nominations of United States persons and conduct monthly random audits of all nominations to determine if information is error-free and meets watchlisting criteria. The Secretary must notify the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Terrorist Screening Center and the National Counterterrorism Center within 24 hours if a nomination is found to be deficient and request corrections or retractions. If corrections or retractions are not effectuated within 30 days, the Secretary must consult with the Director of the FBI or the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center. The Secretary must annually report to Congress on the number of identities referred for corrections or retractions and the number of nominations recalled or reissued.
