The Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in consultation with the Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, can add more diseases and conditions based on findings from a study. Family members of veterans who resided at covered military installations or were in utero while the mother resided there are also eligible for similar hospital care and medical services. The Secretary may only furnish hospital care and medical services to family members to the extent provided in advance in appropriations Acts. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must submit annual reports to Congress on the care and services provided under these provisions, including data on the number of veterans and family members receiving care, denials, and those awaiting decisions.

What does PRESUMPTION OF SERVICE CONNECTION FOR CERTAIN VETERANS EXPOSED of VET PFAS Act do?

This section amends Chapter 11 of Title 38, United States Code, by adding a new section (1116C) establishing a presumption of service connection for certain veterans exposed to perfluorooctanoic acid or other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. For veterans meeting the criteria, specified diseases or illnesses manifesting after their service will be considered incurred or aggravated in the line of duty, even without direct evidence.
