What does OFFICE OF AGRITOURISM. of AGRITOURISM Act do?

This section amends the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 to establish an Office of Agritourism within the Department. The Secretary of Agriculture is required to appoint a senior official to serve as the Director of the Office of Agritourism. The Director's duties include encouraging and promoting agritourism activities and businesses, encompassing educational experiences, outdoor recreation, entertainment, direct sales, accommodations, and other related activities. The Director will coordinate with Department agencies, advise the Secretary on agritourism issues, and update Department programs to reflect best practices. The Director is also tasked with conducting outreach, facilitating interagency coordination, reviewing farm enterprise development programs, and collaborating with other Federal agencies. Section 225 of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 is redesignated as section 224A. Section 296(b) of the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 is amended to include the Secretary’s authority to carry out section 217.
