The Initiative will investigate investments by Chinese companies on specific lists maintained by the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense. The Attorney General must consult with relevant Department of Justice components and coordinate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal agencies. The CCP Initiative is to be separate from other Department of Justice initiatives and its resources are dedicated solely to its objectives. The Attorney General must submit an annual report to specified congressional committees on the Initiative's progress, challenges, and findings. This Act will take effect upon enactment and cease to be in effect six years after that date.
