The Secretary of Health and Human Services is authorized to cover lung cancer screening tests cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration, beyond those currently covered under national coverage determination 210.14. Coverage determinations for these new tests will utilize the national coverage determination process, but without the requirement of a determination under section 1861(ddd)(3)(B). The Secretary can consider recommendations from entities with expertise in preventive services during the coverage determination process. The amendments are effective upon enactment of this Act and apply to Part B of title XVIII of the Social Security Act on or after that date.
